Frequent Flyer

I’ve begun my travel season which for me is a combination of work and pleasure but this past week I’ve been in the air more than usual. I started with a flight from Long Beach to Sacramento, CA. The Long Beach airport is one of my favorites with it’s outdoor area and an amazing history. The city embraced flying as early as 1910 with the first runway on the beach and then building the art deco terminal with people like Amelia Earhart flying thru.

Next stop was Sacramento on the way to Napa which if you are looking at visiting wine country some think you have to go thru San Francisco but Sacramento is a great little airport and is much easier to access. I was lucky enough to spend a few days in Napa enjoying great wine and golf for work before winging my way back home via Sacramento with a short pit stop in Long Beach!I spent a few hours at home before heading back to the airport this time for journey across the country to South Carolina.

For me I was on to the 3rd airport for the day, LAX. What’s amazing is that the Long Beach airport could fit inside of terminal one. There is some amazing art and allot of history inside this airport and if you keep your eyes peeled you may see a celebrity or two.

From there onto airport #4 of the day which was the Atlanta airport. Historically not one of my favorites and this proved to be the case yet again with a small delay in landing and a terminal change which required a mad dash barely making my flight. When flying thru Atlanta which is the busiest airport in the world make sure to leave enough time for connections, if you cut it close you may need your running shoes!

Fortunately I made my connection and the Greenville, SC airport welcomed me! It was my first time flying here and with it’s combinations of fountains, art and flowers it offered a Southern hello! After spending a few days on Lake Harwell it was time to say ado and so here I am sitting on yet another airplane heading out of Greenville with a quick stop over in Dallas before heading home.

For those who haven’t flown thru DFW it is another one of those airports you want to leave enough time to make your connection but is so much better than it used to be with the train now helping to make those connections sooo much easier. Depending on the time of year you fly thru weather can delay flights especially in late afternoon and early evening due to thunderstorms. Usually things get back on track fairly quickly so just make sure you have a little patience and find a spot to sit and have a drink or read a book.

From there I’ll be headed back home to San Diego landing at LAX which will end my week of flying. There is something I love about flying and being up in the air seeing the world from 30,000 feet!
